An October Goal....Accomplished!

I was looking back at my old blog posts, and as I said, I have been super busy so I didn't even realize that my October goal was not 5 pounds, but rather 4.

This morning I woke up feeling refreshed and ready to hop on the scale.  I was a bit rushed so I didn't do my normal routine of adding two 5 pound weights to check the scale accuracy.  I just hopped on and this is what I saw:

Today's Weight: 228.6
Starting weight 10/1: 232.8
Pounds lost in October: 4.2!!!!!!

I did it!  I met my goal.  And I am motivated to just keep going....I need to keep going!  There will be ups, there will be downs, but I just want to be healthy.  Aside from the piece of Halloween candy I am sucking on right now, I feel healthy!  lol.  So now on to Goal 1.2, which is 8 pounds by Turkey day!  At this point, I am feeling pretty good about that and can't wait to see the number!

Happy Halloween!

A Fall Run...

Today I was craving a run!  And since my ankle has been doing better, I decided to hit the pavement when I got home from work.  I ran 2.29 miles and the first mile was an 11.14 pace.  Since I haven't been running consistently, and I started running a 12 minute mile last winter, I am always stoked when I see anything better then that after not running for a while.  I guess I kind of feel like maybe I didn't lose all of the stamina I built up!

After my run I went to dinner with the hubs then home for a good old ice bath!  I know it was less then 2.5 miles but I just want to make sure that my legs, especially my ankle, can keep up!
The rest of the evening has just been relaxing and catching up on emails.  I love nights like this!  A wonderful fall evening!  I am looking forward to weighing in tomorrow.  I have been tracking what I eat and trying to squeeze in a few workouts, even though life has been a little crazy!  And tomorrow is Halloween!  I fricken love Halloween and I will be heading over to one of my girlfriend's house to help her pass out candy and watch Hocus Pocus...sounds like a pretty perfect night!

Lack of motivation...

I have sat down to write a post about 20 times over the last 2 weeks, but then for some reason, I just decide not to.  I imagine it has something to do with how crazy work has been.  Between working, working out, making dinner, and social activities, there hasn't been a lot of down time so I suppose when I find some, I just like to let me mind wander...hence the reason I have not written.  Hopefully I can turn that corner and start writing more.  I actually love writing.  I find it to be a bit of a brain dump. I can put it all out there.  Find motivation.  Those who want to read, I leave it open for them!  And I love readers, but it is also a source of record for myself.  I write so I can look back on it.  Reference things that have happened, and see patterns in actions and feelings.

This last Thursday was another weigh in.  Another weigh in I missed.  And again, I will give you my excuse.  I was out dog sitting for my parents and I only had their scale to use.  It showed a loss, but I didn't feel like posting it as I almost always see a difference between scales.  I will post this Wednesday, from my scale, as that will mark the end of October and I made a goal for the end of October.  I made a goal of 5 pounds.  Yeah, pretty sure I won't be seeing that.  But hopefully a loss.  And I have been tracking with Weight Watchers so I am not giving up on an 8 pound loss by Thanksgiving.  I know I can do it!

This past weekend was nice and relaxing.  I was out in Btown watching my parents dogs.  I put on no makeup, did a shit load of baking/canning, and didn't wash my hair for 3 days...but yes, I did wash everything else!

I made a yummy cake using a box of chocolate cake mix, a 15 oz. can of pumpkin, and 1 egg.  The egg is not needed but I like the fluffiness it provides.  It was delicious!  A great low-fat, low calorie dessert packed with the benefits of pumpkin.  I would love to make my own dry mix so I know everything that is in it.  I will save that for my next free weekend!
I continued working on a Halloween craft project.  I have spray painted these bottles twice, and am now in the process of adding faces and ribbon on the top.  I used a nice pumpkin orange spray paint and have been drawing faces on with a sharpie paint pen.  Then tying some light golden brown ribbon around the top.

I finished one for my mom but forgot to take a picture.  Once I finish up the remaining four, I will share a pic.  They will get done probably right in time to get taken down!  Like I said, life has been busy!
I also ventured into making spaghetti squash this weekend.  It was really good, but I don't think I cooked it long enough...my squash was a bit big and I didn't want to wreck it so I pulled it earlier.  I think I learned that Spaghetti Squash is more durable then people think.  I had heard in the past that it was easy to mess up.  After taking it out of the shell and reheating it again it still looked great so I am not sold on the fact that it is hard to make.  Not sure where I heard these rumors but I am not believing them!

I split the squash in half, placed it face down in a glass dish with 1/4 cup water and cooked in the microwave for 10 minutes.  Maybe 15 would have been better!  It can be cooked in the oven the same way at 350 degrees for 45-60 minutes.    It really was delicious topped with some Organic pasta sauce and Parmesan cheese!  Super filling too!
So hopefully this will prove to be a good enough catch up post and here's to hopping I can update a bit more in the future!

A Thursday Weigh in, on a Friday...again!

Happy Friday!

I am so looking forward to this weekend. I have a lovely weekend planned with my best friends to celebrate one of the ladies birthdays! It will be a weekend full of going out, sleepovers, scary movie watching, and who knows what else. One Word: Stoked!

Last week I weighed myself, but have been so ridiculously busy that I did not have time to post.

But it’s not that I was super excited to post it anyways. No movement.
And yesterday, weigh in Thursday, I forgot to weigh in. And I am taking it as a sign…I need to up the ante. I need to get my shit together. I have been working out, but then I just assume I can compensate that with more food. Umm, that is not how it works. So I will forgo the weigh in this weekend and just try really hard to rally. You’ll have to check back in next week and see if I can make some progress for week 4! I would imagine that since I wasn’t super awesome at working out or eating this week, it is either the same or up. And that’s not fun to see so instead, I will just keep on moving forward, and keep focusing on progress.  I may not make my October goal but I would love to make my Thanksgiving goal.
  • 5 pounds by November 1st
  • 8 pounds by Thanksgiving
Tonight we have my aunts baby shower. Last night was crazy busy, but I was craving a workout…seriously, my health is more important than party favors, but I wanted to fit it all in. Insert: Operation Cram 10 pounds of shit into a 5 pound bag (I will give credit to my mom for that saying!).

I got home, late mind you, put made a point to put the workout clothes on right away. This way I had the excuse to at least do something. My grocery list was prepped, and everything I needed to accomplish was written down, so I headed off to the gym.

I grabbed a salad at Chipotle...you can make Chipotle healthy and weight watchers friendly!  Finished my grocery shopping, prepped party items, loaded them in the car, and even though I wasn't in bed until midnight, I got everything done I wanted, and my workout definitely helped me relax!  And honestly, I am quite the night owl so that bed time was really no different then any other night...another thing I need to work on!   So here's to the next week!

Thursday weigh in, on a Friday!

Happy Friday!

I am so ready for the weekend!  I have a friend visiting, I am tired as hell, and I have a shit load of laundry to do.  Hence, I am incredibly glad that I have the weekend ahead of me!

Yesterday I did my weigh in:

Yesterday's Weight
Hellz yeah!  -.8

But even better?

I knew the hubs was coming home Tuesday night and we were talking pizza, and I knew Wednesday we were going out for our anniversary so in preparation, I made sure to work out both nights before going out, and i snapped this pic Tuesday before heading out to dinner:
230.4!!!!

I am headed in the right direction, I am making smart decisions, and I am already feeling better.  Yesterday started a new week and I am looking forward to it!

They opened a new Wellness Building across the street from my work for employees only and this week I took two great group classes! I am looking forward to the classes I have signed up for next week!  On Thursday I was still feeling the burn from my Monday Core class!

Happy Weekend friends!

Happy Monday!!!

It's Monday, and it's the first of October.  Can you say fresh start?!?

I CAN!

Not only do we get a new week today, we get a new month!  Let's rock this one!

BIG GOAL: 5 pounds by Thanksgiving

MONTHLY GOAL: 4 SOLID pounds by 10-31 (my weight fluctuates a lot, like daily, so by solid, I mean I want them off and not creeping around!)

Plan of attack:
  • Workout daily: 3 days Cardio, 2 days Weights/Strength, 2 days Stretching, Plyometrics, anything to get some activity in!
  • Tracking Daily: I am going to blow up the WW app on my phone...I want to task myself to track as much as I can!  (sometimes I just forget, or get too busy)
  • STOP THE NIGHT TIME SNACKING!  I just end of feeling bloated and gross anyways!  After 9 pm, only liquid (water, tea, hot chocolate, but no solids!)
Happy Monday!  Peace out Peeps!
